Institute of Machine Components

The Institute of Machine Components (IMA) is part of the research institutions in the field of mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart. The main focus of our research activities lies in the areas of drive technology, sealing technology, rail vehicle technology, as well as reliability engineering.

In addition to basic scientific research supported by public funding, the IMA is equally dedicated to practice-oriented research and has established successful research co-operations with industrial partners in recent years.

Our own laboratories, workshops, test benches and the expertise of approx. 40 employees enable us to implement individual research projects, industrial orders and consulting in our specialist areas.

With our range of courses, we equip students with fundamental engineering knowledge to support, accompany and qualify the young engineers of tomorrow.
